The St. Cloud Area Youth Basketball Association was very successful this weekend in Alexandria. The eighth grade "A" basketball team won the Frozen Lakes Tournament on Sunday, while the fifth grade "B" team took second place.
The ROCORI Spartans boys basketball team ran their win streak to 13 games with a 56-40 win over the Eagles Thursday at Apollo High School. The Spartans are now 19-4 overall this season and 12-2 in the Central Lakes Conference.
The Wild was 5-5 on the penalty kill, including a kill with just over one minute left in regulation, which turned into a six-on-four after Florida pulled its goalie. Minnesota only had two chances on the power play but scored on one of them.
The Alexandria Cardinals earned the second seed in Section 6A boys hockey, with the Cathedral Crusaders picking up the second seed. In Section 8AA, the Bemidji Lumberjacks earned the top seed with Moorhead in the second spot.
