It's Opening Day in Major League Baseball,  and it couldn't come soon enough. The winter sports season has been brutal for us here in Minnesota. With baseball arriving, it brings a new hope to fans that the Twins can bail us out of this sports funk that we've been in since last October.

Baseball has fell behind football as the highest rated sport, but there is something about the sound of a bat smashing a ball to deep center that gets me excited. Or a diving catch in the gap to rob a two run double. Not to mention "Baseball Tonight" is a great show to watch.

Our baseball predictions are to be made, and I will post them via the website tomorrow after we announce them today on "The Granite City Cafe." The match-up that looks most interesting to me today is Tigers-Yankees, even though I don't care for either team. It's a pitching match-up squaring off two Cy Young candidates in Verlander and Sabathia. The Twins begin play tomorrow and face the Blue Jays, a team they historically struggle against.

I can discuss the Twins opener more tomorrow, but for today let's enjoy Opening Day and how cool it is. Soon enough warm weather will be here, and we can all put this winter behind us.
