1390 The Fan Sports News


The Twins lost 6-4 to the Tigers Saturday afternoon at the Metrodome after the bullpen allowed 4 runs in the 8th inning.  Curtis Granderson hit a 2-run homerun off Dennys Reyes before Magglio Ordonez hit a 2-run homerun off Matt Guerrier.  Scott Baker started the game and threw 7 1/3 innings with 4 hits and 3 earned runs allowed.  Minnesota loaded the bases with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th inning but Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau failed to score the base runners.  Alexi Casilla led the Twins with 3 hits, Carlos Gomez hit a 2-run double and both Joe Mauer and Denard Span each added 2 hits for Minnesota.  The Twins fall to 78-64 and are now 2 1/2 games back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central.  The White Sox beat the Angels 7-6 in 15 innings Saturday night.  The Twins host Detroit closing out the 3-game series today at 1:10, pregame on WJON at 12:40.  Lefthander Glen Perkins (12-3) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and righthander Chris Lambert (0-1) toes the rubber for the Tigers.
