Former Minnesota Viking Daunte Culpepper retired from the NFL Thursday in a statement made through email. Culpepper said, "Farewell NFL". He's only 31 years old and has been pursuing a job as a starter or backup quarterback this offseason. He was offered a backup job with Green Bay and Pittsburgh but the two sides couldn't reach a financial agreement. Culpepper began his career with the Vikings in 1999 and threw for 4,717 yards and 39 touchdowns in 2004. He suffered a major knee injury in 2005 and was traded by the Vikings to the Miami Dolphins for a 2nd round pick in 2006. Culpepper played for the Oakland Raiders in 2007.
