1390 The Fan Sports News


The Twins lost 1-0 at Boston in the first game of a 3-game series Monday night.  Daisuke Matsuzaka combined with 2 relievers on the 6-hit shutout.  Hideki Okajima picked up the win in relief and Jonathan Papelbon threw the 9th inning for the save.  Manny Ramirez singled in the lone run of the game off Brian Bass in the 8th inning.  Scott Baker started the game for the Twins and threw 7 shutout innings with 5 hits and 2 walks allowed.  He struckout 7.  Bass took the loss in relief.  Justin Morneau had 2 of the Twins 6 hits.  The Twins saw their 5-game win streak snapped and Minnesota is now 50-39 and is 1 1/2 games back of the White Sox for first place in the American League Central.  The Twins  will play at Boston again Tuesday night at 6:05, pregame on WJON at 5:35.  Righthander Nick Blackburn (7-4) gets the start on the mound for the Twins and lefthander Jon Lester toes the rubber for the Red Sox.
