1390 The Fan Sports News


The Twins had 3 players selected to the American League All Star team Sunday.  Joe Mauer will start at catcher after winning the fan voting.  For Mauer it will be his 2nd All Star appearance and his first start.  First baseman Justin Morneau and relief pitcher Joe Nathan were each selected as All Star reserves for the American League.  It will be Morneau's 2nd all star appearance and Nathan's 3rd appearance.  The starters for the American League are Alex Rodriguez at 3rd base, Derek Jeter at shortstop, Dustin Pedroia at 2nd base, Kevin Youkilis at 1st base, Joe Mauer at catcher, and the 3 outfielders are Manny Ramirez, Ichiro Suzuki and Josh Hamilton.  The elected starting DH is David Ortiz.  Ortiz is hurt and Milton Bradley will start in his place.  The All Star game is July 15 at Yankee Stadium in New York.
