The ROCORI Spartans, by their standards, had a down year in 2013. The Spartans finished the season 2-6 in the regular season and were outscored by an average of over 23 points in their six losses.

However, the Spartans upset Little Falls 24-21 in the opening round of the section playoffs and are poised for a bounce-back season in 2014 thanks to nine returning starters on both sides of the football.

"We return a lot of players on both sides of the football, so we are very optimistic," head coach Mike Rowe said. "When you have guys who have played in the Central Lakes Conference, that will usually mean you will be a much more competitive team."

The Spartans open the season on August 29th against Apollo in Cold Spring.
